Who is the Foundation, and what do we do?”
The Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns’ mission is to support and enhance academics, the arts, athletics and technology throughout our schools. Funds raised by the Foundation are distributed as grants, supporting innovative educational programs and addressing needs.
The Foundation has four major sources of fundraising:
  1. Annual Appeal. A fall appeal letter goes out to the Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown communities, as well as our district’s alumni.
  2. Spring Benefit. Our annual auction and party is a true community event celebrating our students and our schools. Funds raised from this event come from our live and silent auctions, and ticket sales. Restaurants, stores, local businesses and community members generously donate auction items.
  3. Horseman Color Me Mud Run. Our Horseman Color Me Mud Run includes shorter races for younger runners and a Fun Fair for all.
  4. Grants. We actively seek and apply for grants. In addition, throughout the year the Foundation may receive corporate and other donations from our supporters.
What we Fund:
Every year, the Foundation supports education programs, technology and other needs across all grade levels. Our funding spans from state-of-the art technology to enhance the learning experience such as SMART boards and 3‑D printers, to theater residencies, author visits, and field trips to Washington D.C., Caramoor and aboard the Clearwater.
